Frequently Asked Questions
|
| The chart for a ticker doesn't reflect a recent split / rights issue or has some data problems |
| Please report it using the form above, and we'll make the necessary adjustment. It would be helpful if you could include the details
of the split or rights issue (date, ratio) in the message, if you know that information, or specify which data points you believe to be
incorrect. |
| I get "No information available" or "Missing or insufficient historical data"
for a ticker |
| These messages indicate that the site can't obtain any or sufficient information for that ticker in that market. The coverage of
shares is only comprehensive for the major markets. A
minimum of about four months of data is needed to construct a chart at all, and more for a useful one. |
| When are the charts updated? |
| Most charts are updated about 30-60 minutes after their market closes. Some may take longer,
occasionally not until the next market open. In general, it's not worth looking for updated charts more
frequently than once an hour. |
| What does an entry in my Watchlist showing as "(outdated)"
mean? |
| This means that the site has stopped tracking the
ticker. Sometimes this is because the ticker no longer exists
(e.g. has stopped trading, been taken over, etc), or it could be for
other reasons. Clicking on it will either refresh it, if
data is available, or give you the option to remove it from your
Watchlist. |
| Are there any options to change the charts? |
You
can change between candle charts and line charts using the selector in
the left hand column of the main page and, by clicking the cog to the
right of the selector, you can change the values shown at the
top of the chart, the appearance of the element lines, and whether to
use Flash or HTML5 for the charts. |
| How do I find out what tickers are available and/or the ticker for a share? |
| The best source is usually the website of the stock exchange you are interested in.
Entering "city stock exchange" into a search engine will usually find it, or you can start at
the Wikipedia List of Stock
Exchangeshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_stock_exchanges. IchimokuTrader.com has no "master list" of
shares and no search facility. |
| Does IchimokuTrader.com cover currencies (forex) or commodities? |
| No, the site is specifically intended for charts of shares
& stock market indices only. |
| Are other period charts (hourly, weekly, etc) or longer history charts available? |
| No, the site is specifically intended to be an implementation of Goichi Hosoda's original
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo charting system, based on trading days, only (see Ichimoku
Elementswww.IchimokuTrader.com/elements.html),
and the amount of history shown is appropriate for this. |
| Can I get a list of any and all shares that have flagged a signal recently? |
| No, the site is intended for viewing Ichimoku charts of shares and indices, not for scanning the markets for possible buying or shorting opportunities. Remember that signals
should never be taken in isolation, but considered in the context of the overall chart.
|
| Can I get email alerts when shares flag a signal? |
| No, IchimokuTrader.com does not offer that service.
|
| Can you recommend a trading platform that uses Ichimoku signals? |
| We don't know of any trading platforms that implement automatic trading on Ichimoku signals and,
indeed, would not advise it as the signals should never be read in isolation (see Ichimoku
Signalswww.IchimokuTrader.com/signals.html).
